Global Commercial Vehicle Weekly Update: Technological Breakthroughs and Industry Setbacks Coexist
Over the past week, the global commercial vehicle industry has continued to move forward amid the waves of electrification and intelligence. The competition and cooperation among enterprises have intensified, and technological innovation and market layout actions have been frequent. However, the industry dynamics are also mixed. There are positive news of technological breakthroughs as well as operational challenges faced by enterprises.
The Polish trailer giant Wielton was severely damaged by a fire
Recently, Wielton, a well-known Polish trailer manufacturer, has been in a series of troubles. After receiving orders from the military but simultaneously exposing financial problems, a fire broke out at its production plant in the early hours of the morning. The fire that began at 0:40 mobilized 15 fire brigades to put it out with all their might and was not completely extinguished until 3 a.m. As a company that once drew attention due to its ultra-high cost-performance EVO side curtain trailer, the impact of this fire on its already stressed production and operation is still unclear, but it undoubtedly has increased the company's business burden.
The Netherlands has ushered in an innovative rental model for zero-emission trucks
German leading truck rental company Hylane has officially introduced its innovative rental services to the Dutch market by establishing a subsidiary in the Netherlands. The "pay-per-use" model it has launched breaks the limitations of traditional periodic leasing. Operators only need to pay based on the actual number of trips and mileage, significantly reducing initial investment and financial pressure.
Thanks to the SWiM national subsidy program in the Netherlands, the current models offered include zero-emission models such as MAN hTGX hydrogen internal combustion engine heavy-duty trucks, Hyundai xCient hydrogen fuel cell heavy-duty trucks, and Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 long-distance electric heavy-duty trucks. The product line will continue to expand in the future.
Scania has released a megawatt-level fast charging solution
Scania has made another breakthrough in the commercial vehicle technology field by officially launching the MCS megawatt fast charging system. The system is marked by a unique triangular interface, with a maximum charging power of 750kW, which is twice that of the current CCS2 standard. The first stage will achieve a current output of 1000 amperes (750V - 1000A), enabling the electric truck battery to charge from 20% to 80% in less than 30 minutes, perfectly matching the legal rest time for drivers and ensuring that the operation plan is not disrupted. The liquid cooling technology and advanced communication system equipped in the system not only ensure the safety and stability of charging but also lay a foundation for the large-scale application of electric trucks in regional and national distribution scenarios. This system will be officially launched in early 2026 in conjunction with electric trucks, promoting the electrification of commercial vehicles from a vision to a large-scale practical application stage.
