At the China EV 100 Forum (2025), a set of impressive data has drawn industry attention: In the first two months of this year, domestic sales of new energy commercial vehicles reached 79,000 units, with a year-on-year increase of over 50%. The market penetration rate rose to 17%, an increase of 5 percentage points compared with the same period last year. Ma Fanglie , senior advisor of the China EV 100, pointed out that this change marks that new energy commercial vehicles have moved from the policy-driven cultivation period to the explosive growth period driven by policy and market synergy.

From the perspective of sub-sectors, various categories of new energy commercial vehicles are showing a stepwise penetration trend. In February this year, new energy buses led the industry with a penetration rate of 35.5%, continuing to consolidate the achievements of electrification in the public transportation sector. the penetration rate of new energy logistics vehicles has jumped from 13.3% in the same period last year to 21.5%. The year-on-year sales growth of 173% confirms the electrification potential of the urban distribution market. Models such as Wuling  Yangguang and Changan Ruixing EM60 have become market darlings .the most notable is the new energy heavy-duty truck, whose penetration rate has soared from 7.6% to 17.6%. Its sales in February increased by 298.83% year-on-year, with 13 enterprises achieving monthly sales of over 100 units. The growth rate in March is expected to further expand to 1.6 times, and the penetration rate is likely to reach 19%.

Facing the blue ocean market, major commercial vehicle manufacturers are all stepping up their efforts in the new energy vehicle sector.

Foton Motor launched three new products, namely the Tuyano X5, the Ouhang Zhilan EHL and the Foton Auman Galaxy 3, at its first-quarter business meeting, building a full-scenario solution covering urban distribution, sanitation and regional transportation.

Zhang Hongliang, president of Foton Motor's Tuanyano Division, pointed out that the explosive growth of e-commerce logistics has forced traditional VAN models to upgrade.the "All-Domain Expansion Architecture" equipped on the Tuanyano X5 achieves a range of 520 kilometers through CATL's "Tianxing L" battery. The modular body design increases the transportation efficiency of the high-roof version by 15%, precisely addressing the efficiency pain points of urban distribution logistics.
